From Beer City to Lake Hartwell
Adam and Megan’s journey began in Asheville, North Carolina—a place proudly known as "Beer City" since 2009. It was there that Adam’s passion for beer took root. One year, his brother gifted him a basic home brewing kit with a plastic barrel, and it sparked a love that would grow for over 15 years. Adam experimented with techniques, refined recipes, and dove deep into the world of home brewing. Along the way, he and Megan entered competitions, won awards, and gained enthusiastic feedback from fellow beer lovers.
While they loved visiting Lake Hartwell, they noticed a surprising lack of local breweries in the area. When the opportunity finally came to relocate and open a brewery of their own, Lavonia stood out as the perfect fit. The couple saw a need, embraced the challenge, and planted roots in a town ready to welcome something new.
In November 2022, Gumlog Brewing Company officially opened its doors. Over the past year, Adam and Megan have built more than a business—they’ve built a community. “It’s been difficult, but it’s also been fun,” Megan says. “We’ve made a lot of new friends and really love being here.”
Flavorful Brews and Delicious Eats
Gumlog Brewing Company serves food almost every evening (closed on Tuesdays), featuring a menu of hearty, hand-crafted meals. From Thursday to Sunday, they also offer lunch, with mouthwatering options like bratwurst, the savory brisket Reuben, and refreshing chicken salads. Their bratwurst selection caters to every taste, from classic favorites to creative, bold flavors. Whether you're grabbing a bite before a brew or pairing a meal with one of their craft beers, there's always something new and delicious to savor.
